Collaborations

Collaborations throughout the beauty industry or more simpler put, beauty collabs are a big deal with influencers and brands. Some of the most popular collabs are between brands and influencers. This is because influencers have a large following on social media and they have millions of followers especially on YouTube. These influencers don't have their own brand so their followers depend on their collaborations to buy products made by them.

These collaborations include Morphe x James Charles, Morphe x Jeffree Star, Becca x Jaclyn Hill, Colourpop x Kathleen Lights and hundreds of more of collabs between social media influencers and beauty brands. Because of social media, these collabs are very popular and much easier to put together by being able to set up a lot of the technical aspects over email which is why there are so many more of these types of products that are launching now more than ever. Collaborations are amazing whenever you love an influencer who doesn't own a brand but want a product that they had input in creating. My favorite collaboration is the Becca x Jaclyn Hill champagne pop highlight, it is a staple in my makeup bag and it is one of the most popular highlights in the industry right now.

Not only do social media beauty influencers collab with beauty brands, they also collab with fashion brands. The most recent collab like this is Quay Australia x Jaclyn Hill. Jaclyn helped design a collection of sunglasses and accessories with Quay and I can not wait to go back to work and buy her "very busy" sunglasses for the summer.

The challenges about collabs are that there are so many scandals around social media influencers it is difficult to gauge which influencer is going to help or hurt their business. Another challenge is to agree on a product and a color scheme. The easy part is creating the product because the brand will already have all of the means to do so but setting up the product is what is difficult. These implications are why it takes so for these collabs to launch to the public.

Beauty Collaborations are one of the things that give these influencers more acknowledgement in the makeup industry or even sometimes the fashion industry. I love collaborations because it allows a new influence on an already established brand and it's usually well thought through because the influencer doesn't have as many products out so they put all that they have into their few products. That is why I buy so many collaboration products because they are usually high quality and there's usually something different about the product.
