#beauty

Hashtags are one of the most important aspects of digital media to keep any community connected. In the beauty industry, there are many different hashtags that are apart of location based narratives around the world such as #beauty, #makeup and more. These hashtags often times have geo-tags attached to them, allowing people to know where an event is or where a certain product is sold at. If you are an up-and-coming makeup artist trying to get your name out their, the best way is through using hashtags. A great hashtag to use in that situation would be #mua which stands for makeup artist. This will get you noticed by more people along with adding geo-tags to let people know where you're located for them to get their makeup done by you. This can also help if you are selling beauty products and want a broader business. Hashtags and geo-locations are not only to start conversations about big brands to launch new products, but also to help small scale indie brands and local makeup artists to grow their business. This is an amazing aspect of social media that can improve someones career.

Although social media can inspire people to strive to do what they want, it can also be difficult to be a woman who loves makeup across social media. There are so many mixed emotions about the use of makeup and different people have different opinions on how much makeup is too much and how little makeup is not enough. This problem has so much power on influencing people flaunting their artistic creations and it can diminish a persons self-esteem. This is seen a lot in hashtags such as #glowup where people make rude comments about other people feeling good about themselves.

This video is a perfect representation on how social media impacts people and how they should or should not wear their makeup. I personally think there is no such thing as too much or too little makeup, as long as whoever is wearing it feels confident. Someone who is faced with this type of criticism is the YouTube celebrity, James Charles just because he is a man who loves makeup. No matter your age, size, skin color and gender, you should be able to feel confident and do not let anyone take your confidence away from you.
